The Bollywood industry has once again come under the radar of the Income Tax Department. According to a report by Aaj Tak, the Mumbai Income Tax Department has launched a major crackdown on several prominent personalities and production houses over alleged tax evasion and remittances made abroad in connection with film projects.
Which actors and production houses came under the Income Tax Department’s radar?
According to reports, raids are being conducted at around 12 locations linked to actress Rakul Preet Singh, veteran film producer Vashu Bhagnani and Panorama Studios. Sources said the Income Tax Department had received information about large sums allegedly being remitted abroad under the guise of film shoots, overseas distribution and production expenses.
Investigating agencies suspect possible tax evasion and financial irregularities linked to these transactions. Following this information, multiple IT teams have launched searches at several offices and premises across Mumbai.
The reports further claimed that the IT department had received information about a large amount of money being sent abroad under the name of shooting a film, foreign distribution and production. This has led to a suspicion of large-scale tax evasion and financial irregularities. As a result, many team of the Mumbai IT department have been assigned on the matter and a thorough investigation is under process.
The Income Tax investigation is currently underway. Once the probe is concluded, the department is expected to share key details regarding the alleged financial discrepancies.

Rakul Preet has been married to Jackky Bhagnani. Rakul is set to feature in one of the most anticipated movies of 2026 – Ramayana: Part 1. The film is helmed by Nitesh Tiwari and Rakul will be essaying the role of Surpnakha.
