Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has reaffirmed Islamabad’s unconditional commitment to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia, declaring that all Pakistani defence resources are at the disposal of the Kingdom. Speaking in the wake of escalating regional aerial strikes and drone assaults, Asif emphasised that defending the holy sites of Mecca and Madinah represents a core strategic and moral obligation for Pakistan.

The Defence Minister confirmed that Pakistan will stand “shoulder to shoulder" with Saudi Arabia to counter external security threats, highlighting the historic defence partnership between the two nations.

The bilateral defence commitment moves forward following major breakthroughs in operationalising the historic Mecca Defence Agreement. Asif disclosed that crucial foundational drafts, leadership appointments, and administrative frameworks have been finalised across recent strategic committee sessions.

Key operational developments under the agreement include:

As part of the defence framework, Pakistan has actively initiated the provision of military resources, technical capabilities, and intelligence-sharing mechanisms to support Saudi defence grids against ongoing regional aggression. Asif clarified that the provisions of the Mecca alliance carry no restrictive stipulations barring direct involvement or joint military response in the event of a critical security threat to a member state.

The announcement comes as trilateral coordination between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and allied defence leadership continues to intensify, setting the stage for an integrated defence architecture across the Gulf and South Asia.
