A bomb threat email was received by Kolkata Airport on Thursday, claiming that an explosive had been planted inside the airport and threatening to blow up the facility.

Following the threat, security has been stepped up across the airport, and the premises have been placed under a tight security cordon.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is currently conducting a thorough search of the airport premises as part of the security response.
