Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, known for directing films such as Kaante, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Shootout at Wadala and Kaabil, passed away at the age of 57. Gupta is survived by his wife, Anuradha (Anu) Lekhi Gupta,and two children . The couple’s love story began in 1994 and faced its own twists and turns.
Sanjay got married to Anu on August 18, 1997. The couple had dated for two and a half years before they tied the knot, but it was in 2003 that their relationship hit a rough patch, and they decided to go their separate ways. After their divorce in 2003, the two started separate lives, but Sanjay couldn’t move on. While he had two relationships following his divorce, Anu never left his heart. Following their divorce, Sanjay Gupta spent years trying to win Anu back, and eventually, in 2009, the two tied the knot once again.
While the couple had often opened up about the reasons behind their decision to part ways, in one of his last interviews with author Hussain Zaidi on his YouTube channel, Hussain Zaidi Files, Sanjay revealed that an underworld-related episode in his life had affected his marriage and became one of the biggest reasons for their divorce.
Sanjay, while sharing details of what happened, said that a friend offered him an empty flat where he would wait for calls and speak to the concerned person when he had a connection to the underworld. This continued for four to five months, and during this time, he would tell Anu about his whereabouts, making her suspicious that he was having an affair.
“Because I cannot tell her where I am going. You are having an affair, she thought. I cannot tell her where I am going. I have to shield her from this," he said in the interview.
While Sanjay admitted that there were other problems in their marriage too, he revealed that he personally felt this episode became a major reason why the couple once thought of parting ways and living separate lives.
About Sanjay Gupta’s DeathSanjay Gupta passed away at the age of 59 .While the exact circumstances of his death are unknown as of now, Ashoke Pandit confirmed the news on social media and said Gupta had suffered a head injury at home.
